Pandemic Programming

Updated: Apr 11, 2021

Reflections on our year of fully remote programs and the lessons we learned.

In 2020 just like the rest of the world, Hormar Academy was affected by the pandemic and had to close down for the rest of the spring semester. But with strength and resilience, we were able to adapt to the new world we live in and open up in the fall as well as continue the program in the spring. Transitioning to Zoom came with its own difficulties such as adapting to technology, burnout, and lack of connection. But it also brought joy as we were able to open up Hormar Academy to mentors living outside of Boston. While we all hope for the pandemic to be over and to see one another again in person, we can definitely agree that this past year has been an unforgettable experience. This year has taught us the importance of spaces like Hormar and the people within Hormar. It reminds us to remain present in and grateful for the fleeting moments we have with each other.
